Renewable energy sources are crucial for sustainable energy generation but are hindered by intermittent availability. Energy storage systems are essential to address this limitation. This project focuses on optimizing the anode of rechargeable Fe-Air Batteries for residential solar panel users, enabling energy utilization even during evenings.

Iron, was chosen for its abundance and affordability. Also offers advantages such as dendritic growth prevention compared to Zinc anodes. Main challenges of the design was the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER) and anode passivation. They were addressed through mitigation strategies involving Carbonyl Iron Powder (CIP), Bi2O3, FeS additives, and Na2S electrolyte additives.

Experimental procedures involved preparing and testing anode compositions, assessing electrochemical properties through galvanostatic cyclic charge and discharge tests and polarization tests.
